I first saw it in 1989, and I had not seen it again till today when I was going a google search for something else Roger related. I have looked for it for years.
I remembered the detective style trench coats , but I could not remember the actor.
The photo has some significance to me.
….This was the first time I ever saw the Roger Rabbit costume.
It must have been early 1989 as The Disney MGM Studios opened May 1 1989.
I was already crazy about Roger, but when I saw a "real life" version of him it blew my mind.
It was then I made a life changing decision.
….I want to be a costume character in a theme park. That is what I want to do. That is what I want to be. Just like Roger.
In 1991 I moved to Florida and in 1992 I was hired as a costume character at Universal Studios Florida for $5.65/hr. And the rest is history.
And it is all because of this photo. Rediscovered after 30 years.

Now I REALLY wish I could experience the early years of Disney-MGM Studios, but I was literally too little, too far away, and too late for that (my first trip to WDW was back in 2003)
I’m planning to create a collage of Disney/Touchstone characters from 1988 to 1999 and have made into a custom T-Shirt and wear it while on my 4th visit to WDW on the week before Christmas
(Hope I’ll run into you as a cast member or character, which ever park you’ll be working at)

Unfortunately, no. He died Nov 11, 2016. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Vaughn
OH man this is a totally cool story. Very awesome to hear.
I feel the nostalgia just from reading, and I can strongly relate to it.
That moment you believe so much in the magic that you want to be a part of it.
I felt that so much as a kid growing up watching The Disney Channel, living in NC.
I thought I'd never even live to see Disney or Universal in person.
Then come 25 years old, I pushed myself to move to FL because after just tasting what it was like becoming a 'character' after trying it at my college with my own fursuit, I know I wanted to do it a lot more.
I moved to Florida, and I was so nervous auditioning for Disney, and didn't get it because I didn't have a car at the time.
Then I auditioned at Universal and didn't get it the first time, and then the second time I made it.
I miss it so much too!
I miss being a character everyday, I think it's the most fun I've ever had, practically a dream come true. If the recession of 2007 never happened, I'd probably still be there today.

This reminds me of how I got started back in 1980 as a theme park mascot. I was the perfect height to be Huckleberry Hound.
I remember the audition the most. Arriving at the park on a cold winter's morning with 18 inches of snow on the ground. Making my way through the park on the one snow shoveled path to the main auditorium. It was so eerie!
