Well, I recently joined this group
furry_musicians because I thought it was about time. If any of you are insterested in supporting other furry musicians out there, please go browse their directory sometime.
Anyway, they posted a journal about a sort of "contest" for the community along the lines of cover Movie songs/themes. This inspired me, and I recorded this for fun. I don't know if I will be joining in yet, frankly I am shy about my music in a competitive sense. However, I DO wish to participate to help promote the group/other musicians. I wanted to post it regardless, so I really hope some of you might enjoy it.
The song is from the really awesome movie Nightmare Before Christmas. I adore this song, because it is hauntingly beautiful and sad at the same time. Amy Lee (Evanescence) covered this, and did a great job in my opinion.
The backing is a midi which is freely available if you search for it, but I don't know who sequenced it. However, I deleted and rearranged it a bit to my liking, replaced the instruments quickly to suit my style a bit more and soften it as well.
I've never attempted this before until tonight.(That's what she said) It was an adorable song to cover.
Thanks for reading :3 x

@__@ lady, your voice is beautiful! seriously, I got goosebumps listening to that. ;__; I've never commented on your music uploads before because I'm stuck in a very public area most of the time I go online, except now. and now I think I'll have to go and listen to your other music uploads.
and yes, that movie is so, so wonderful. :3

OOoooh hahaha I see!! ^_____^ well in that case I hope you like what I sing x_x Though my older stuff that's rough is a bit embarassing hahaha this new equipment is awesome, you can hear my voice better for sure which makes me happy.
I am glad you like it :D I really like singing it :D!!! xx

I have to admit to listening to this one over and over again and loving it's soft sweet beautiful sad and slightly macabe tone. In fact it actually got stuck in my head so high marks there Lily! I've seen the movie but I haven't really got stuck on one of their songs except "What's this?" And having listened to the original and Amy Lee I must say you kicked the original's butt and gave Amy Lee's an run for it's money.
:D Thank you so so much hun for listening and giving me a comment to read :3 I have only seen this movie once and I always quite liked the style of the music, all creepy and eerie but charming in that sense. I never really paid this song much attention either, but I remembered I quite liked Amy Lee's cover when I saw this journal by the musican group on FA so I went from there. And I am really quite pleased with the reception, as it encourages me to try and do more music and such :D So thank you for being so supportive <3 And I am really happy you like it that much.
you have a wonderful voice, this sounds great. its pretty late so i cant say too much more, id really just go for the group thing, dont hesitate about how you sing. It is an awesome song from the movie . . . and you did a wonderful reproduction. I knew of said midi, and your version is much better, i used to use it for a ringtone, but the orignal always sounded a little to quick in tempo, yers does not n.n
^_^ Thank you for saying so, I need all the encouragement I can get since I am quite nervous and underconfident about singing (and everything else too). The original midi is ok, but I didn't like the copious amounts of trumpet lol XD Also as you say it felt a bit fast to me so I tweaked it and it worked a bit better for me :3 I am very pleased you liked it, thank you x
hahahaha I have only seen in once, and my mum gave me the dvd for Christmas one year a while ago, so I didn't know the movie very well until then. And having watched it once I wasn't even that familiar with it or the music in it. But I am glad I went and checked it out again, I think it suited my voice quite a lot :) Thanks Meeya :3 Doesnt my mic sound good hahahaha I am so impressed.
Hahahaa~ thank you my dear for the watch and yeah I sing with quite an obvious english accent x_x Something that seems to have crept in more and more recently. And sure, I might be able to do parodies if you ever need me to, we can see :D Not done anything like that before XD
Wow. You're easily one of the best vocalists on FA I've found so far. VERY good overdubing going on here. The vocals aren't doctored are they? If they are I can't tell. Beautiful straight tone and that adds to the creepiness of this song and even gives it a bit of an irish feel.
^_^! When you say doctored, do you mean did I record them in sections? If so, then I sung the entire song in one go. I like the advantage of singing in segments, since you can then perfect it, but I prefer to sing as much in one go as possible so it flows better and sounds better in my opinion.
Thank you :) I listen to this sometimes and wonder if it needs redoing as I falter in the singing sometimes, but I then tell myself to trust everyone else on FA when they say it sounds fine. I am way too critical of myself :s

You can never be too critical of yourself but your ear will always listen for your mistakes rather than success. You've failed when you can no longer find anything wrong with your own work. Jeeze how are you so awesome that you can draw, and sing. When I said doctored I meant pitch alteration. It couldn't be though because there's vibrato.
Oh ok ^^ No I don't know how to alter pitches etc :s Never tried it. I know people do it for harmnies or to correct their singing... but no. It's all natural singing.
:) And I'd rather not get complacent. I couldnt ever get that way anyways, I am just too critical/underconfident.
