Commission for
koopacooper, it's his character 'Roxy', reimagined as a fully anthropomorphic vixen.
She seems to have come upon this bog, looked down at her boots and said to herself "I can handle this". And so far, she is--not counting those pesky vines, the last of which she seems to have hooked by accident. Whether those boots (real-life version pictured here) are tall enough to get her through this quagmire, or are destined to sink beneath the surface depends on which fantasy you subscribe to :)
This commission marks the 200th project in my archive numbering system since I started posting artwork online. I'm still wondering how I manage to draw wilderness this well when I'm a die-hard city-dweller.
Technical:
A few extra tactics were tried with this one. First, I finally figured out that white surfaces don't have to be paper-white, and making them a few shades darker allows you to put proper highlights across them (particularly useful on eyes). This pic also benefits from more time taken to create extra highlight and shadow detail in the backdrop trees, as well as bits of sky showing through the edge of the tree closest to her. The combination of extra details and layered shadow/highlight effects produce a level of finishing above the usual cell-shaded pics that define my color work, at least as far as commissions are concerned. So, consider this an example of a new category of extra-cost finishing over and above my standard digital color effort, (exemplified by pics such as 'Sand Trap')--at least till I'm able to just bang out pics like this--it is rather time-consuming to color this way, as I discovered.
Inkscape vector-inked pencils colored in Micrografx Picture Publisher 8. 14 object layers (excluding attribution and watermarks), uncompressed filesize: 226 megabytes

This looks amazing! :) The amount of detail in this picture, and the shading are somethin' else, you've definitely taken your art to the next level here. :) I assume that those are her pockets sticking out from the legs of her shorts?
Personally, I think that Roxy's already at the deepest part of the bog, but that green vine caught around her arm might pull her off-balance and make her fall splat on her back and get thoroughly caked (which will be absolute murder to get all of that mud out of her hair...). :)

Wow, this is quite a fantastic job RR, and a good step up in technical quality. The mud looks spectacularly squishy, and the sense of motion you have in this is very well done. The flow of her hair and slightly off-balance pose do a nice job of showing that she's gotten herself snagged.
