The son of FRC Champion Thorvald Eriksson, Gunnar was set to follow in his father's hoofsteps until he suffered a near fatal crash during a rally in Latvia.
Since then, after a brief but successful run in German touring car series FDTM, he has gone on to establish himself as one of Furmula One's rising young stars, now racing for the Indianapolis based Comet Power team.
Here he celebrates his second career Belgian Grand Prix victory at the famed Spa Francorchamps circuit. This was one of two victories for him during this past season, in which he was one of five drivers in contention for the championship entering the final race in Abu Dhabi. Needless to say, he loudly and proudly represents equines and Ísland in the premier motorsports series in the world.
