This was, as I intimated to several people (particularly Pandora aka paperclipbutterfly from AO3, whose advice and time were very helpful throughout most of this project) that this particular moment was a very dicey one for me. On the one hand, I saw no way to have things play out as originally scripted without in some sense betraying Taelia's character. On the other hand, I was anxious to avoid spoilers for the No Stone Unturned. On the third side of it (told you this was complicated), I was afraid that to downplay things too much would insult not only Taelia, but also many others who have been romantically betrayed in various ways.
I think this page, at least, gets its point across for as much as it is worth in this particular context. Whether it works for you, dear reader... well, that part is out of my hands now.
