Speaking of stories that took a long fucking hiatus...
Chapter 10
This one, I was working on and off for a while. It's a flashback chapter where we see a bit of Waylon's life before becoming Killer Croc. More specifically, a window to the only truly good part of his childhood. It's goofy, humorous, feelsy, and a bit sad. But hey, least we get to see that even as a scaly brat, Waylon could pack it away like a champ.

And I have to give you all the props, âcause you found that perfect balance of heartwarming and heartbreaking. Even though the outcome is tragic, itâs nice to see the pure, genuinely happy moments Waylon and Theo shared all those years ago.
Also, I just have to say your version of lilâ Waylon is absolutely precious, even though heâs got quite the mouth on him. XD
Which is why I give the sweet boi all of the hugs he can handle. He deserves it. ^^

Bittersweet is the name of the game, but sweet all the same since they did have a lot of good memories together in the few years Theo took the smol scaly boi in.
Glad you liked him. My idea of lil Waylon is he was always a scaly boi from head to toe, but when he was a kid, his scales were softer and his fangs were smoller. So he'd look legit adorable but be sassy as a motherfuck since Theo taught him to be quick witted and a giant scaly smartass. He succeeded a little too well with Waylon.
lil Waylon would be so happy. Big scaly boi would grumble but look away to hide the blush or the slight grateful smile on his scaly mug.

Of course. It really makes me interested to read more about this certain period in the lilâ croco-boiâs life, especially when youâre giving it a fresh new spin. ;)
Thatâs pretty damn perfect imo. Firstly, I think itâs a lot more fitting that Waylon was always scaly from the day he was born, even if those scales werenât nearly as sharp and tough as they are now. My own personal interpretation had him looking more like his appearance in âBlood in the Waterâ, where he looked like an African American child slowly being enveloped by scaly skin.
And second, for a kid whoâs been through so much grief and abuse, itâs nice to see his excitable, fiery personality come out while under the care of Theo. Even if Theo is a stern papa sometimes, you can tell the lilâ fella feels right at home, like he should be. ^^ Makes me wonder how much changed from when Theo first took him in.

Like you said, I wanted my take on Waylon to have always been a Scaly boi. So he never knew what it was like to feel ânormal,â but he does know how it feels to be loved.
I think one of my flashbacks might be Theo coming across Waylon for the first time too. Basically, he wasnât nearly as fiery or sassy at first because of how cruel the world was. But Theo helps him âcome out of his shellâ and feels comfortable enough to just be himself.

Funny enough, I recently sketched up a newer version of lil' kid Croc in my free time, this time completely covered in scales. ;)
