CCLIII: Jen I
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Odd timing to debut this comic on FA, considering all of the characters in this first story are human. But the black-haired girl has been age-regressed from her 50s to around 3 or 4. That's something we like around here, innit? =D
TO RECAP FOR NEW READERS: This story takes place on Thanksgiving morning. Jen (the black-haired girl) is trying to live a normal life with her family after one of the students at her school for mad scientists forced her to regress in age, with no known cure. The redhead is Jen's husband, Sinbad, a videographer who is trying to make sense of the new situation. The actual literal baby is Trombone, their youngest son, who has not appeared in more than three pages before now, so his backstory is the easiest to catch up on.
For this chapter I leaped into the challenge of telling a story efficiently, in strong contrast to the long story arc we just went through. I had to set up the premise and get us to the first major plot point within one page. Meanwhile, I still needed to convey a sense of where these characters are at right now. What effect has Jen's regression had on her marriage and her home life? How can readers come to understand this as easily and quickly as possible? I had a lot more written to happen on this page--way too much--so I cut it down to the bare essentials to get the story rolling.
