Down the road
Down the road there is a gas station, no more.
I used to stop there every day, not anymore.
It's gone like everything else, nothing left.
All that remain is an empty desert, nothing there.
This hasn't really happened yet, but it will.
It's down the road.

Now, is this some sort of apocalyptic fantasy, or a cry over deserted countryside? I can read it both ways. Little towns getting smaller and big towns getting bigger is a problem at your part of the world too, isn't it? People go where people are, and money goes where people are, leaving peripheries and countryside empty and deserted.
Anyway, enjoyed reading this. Good work.
