This is a poplar shelf I had to build for fabrications class. I built it in about two hours right before class... Yeah, I tend to do stuff last minute. Bad habit. Anyway, my friend Sue helped me a lot with the labor and some construction considerations. The top shelf is not even due to a quick fix we had to do so the two side legs would fit properly. An angle was off somewhere...
It is held together with drywall screws. Countersunk and plugged with hammered in and sanded flush dowels. And one mortis and tennon joint on the bottom shelf where you see the support coming from the back plate. Built two months ago.
It can also be turned upside down and used that way, as can be seen here:
