I could but I wouldn't want to. When I buy these stuff, I want them to be 90-100% original. I do have a MK2 shell from Ima-Usa.com which I could convert, but I rather sell that and get an original M1917A1.
Like you said, I'll just keep looking. They do periodically appear, it's just a matter of timing, finance and mood right now. I've gone back to building my German collection.
