Bio: Chiyer is a strange Larvesta, known only by its subspecies name ‘Ulgara’. While almost identical to a normal Larvesta, his species has some subtle differences and a strange history. His sour attitude mostly stems from many unfortunate events in his life. The worst being the loss of his wife to be (a Frosmoth), who passed away before their wedding, leaving a saddened Larvesta lost in life.

He’s a tall, skinny, and frail bug with high class and a dreary look on life. Everything irritates him to some degree, whether it’s his job, the few friends he has, or anything small to the sand beneath his feet. He struggles to stay positive, and despite his friends best efforts- he only gives back snarky remarks or grunts of disapproval.

He’s one of my older characters, being in his mid-30s. He has many talents and enjoys the classy style of life, as well as the life of living alone. One moment he could be listening to a piano concert in a nice suit- the next he could be buying a pack of donuts to enjoy at home in sweet privacy.

Chiyer is very skilful too- as long as it doesn’t require much strength, he can do almost anything. Cooking is a masterful skill of his.

His body is weak but elegant, segmented slightly as you’d expect from bug types. Parts of his body are warm to touch, and parts like his 5 feelers or fingertips can ignite in flames. He also gives off an intimidating appearance, standing at 7ft tall. His hair looks like a hat of sorts, and the two spikes are horns, covered by his hair.

The dark marks around his eyes are permanent- not makeup. Like the dark area around a Celebi’s eyes. His Volcarona cloak is made with actual Volcarona wings and fur- a long dead relative maybe? The wings keep him warm in winter but can be worn during other seasons too.

Chiyer sees himself as someone whose skills are being wasted on. His current job is working as a Barista in Sonnige City. Despite him being very good at it and getting great reviews for what he makes- it is let down by his personality and lack of care for the customers. Even he knows he’s good at it, but sulks all the while.

Chiyer has lived in Sonnige for many years and has befriended a few Pokemon. He became friends with Lar by some miracle, and the two... still don’t really get along, but Lar seems to ease Chiyer’s mind to some degree. Despite that Chiyer would prefer to stay alone.

Backstory: Chiyer is of a differing species of Larvesta. Dubbed as Ulgara by their ancestors and old language that has now faded in time, they come from a twisted background of wealth, power, and sacrifice. These bugs have become one with the flames of old, passing an ancient fire from generation to generation. They do not speak their old language fully, but you may hear them mix their words into their speech. Very rarely they will fully use the old language.
While over the decades their history became less and less important, their way of life hasn’t changed too much. Being from a wealthy family, Chiyer was schooled in the most promising of places. He desired to be an actor, but was pushed into business by his parents. He’d later accept their wishes, but never found success in that field.
Chiyer left his family early, wishing to forge his own path and deviate from his parents’ wishes after all had gone south.
He’s been to many regions, such as Kalos, Sinnoh, Unova. He lived in Kalos, where he would meet his wife to be- before her passing years later. Grief stricken, he’d leave eventually to live on Luani Island, Sonnige City.

Relationships:
. Velchetta- (Unknown for now) Possibly his daughter or simply another Ulgara Larvesta that ended up following him in his footsteps.

. Furfrou & Rillaboom- Two hairdressers that he befriended when moving to Luani. The Furfrou is posh and a little snooty, while the Rillaboom is a real bro. While Chiyer gets irritated by the Rillaboom’s buddy-buddy attitude, he’s an important part to the business.

. Lar- Chiyer doesn’t get along with most of the cast. Lar is someone he tolerates but doesn’t outright hate. Somehow they’re friends, but it’s not the strongest friendship.

. Bellaria- Another one of his closest friends. The two just seem to care a lot about each other. Bellaria likes to make frequent visits and they hang out a lot in public.

. Mekori & Bayuki- Chiyer is a potential love interest of Mekori. She’s a regular visitor to his barista café, and she seems to have a fondness for his demeanour and the heat he radiates. She tries as often as possible to get close to him… success varies. Chiyer has taken notice of her approaches. He hasn’t said anything but does seem to have some feelings back. Bayuki- Mekori’s daughter on the other hand doesn’t like Chiyer one bit.

. Bellanette- These two are quite close. Both coming from such high-class families, they share a fair bit in common. Bellanette knows a lot about Chiyer and feels bad for him. She spends a lot of time with him, trying to keep his mood up and dragging him around to different events to keep his life more entertaining. In turn Chiyer looks up to her as one of the most dedicated workaholics he’s ever seen. He also offers to help her out often- if not just to get out of social gatherings or his own work place.

. Genevieve- The two sulky buggers spend some nights together drinking their troubles away and ranting about life. Though as time would go on these nights would become less drink heavy and just casual hanging out to chat.

. Darkria- Even Chiyer cannot deny Darkria’s good looks. Chiyer was the first one to really treat her like a friend, and the two have been close ever since. Chiyer is one of the few Pokemon she’ll really open up to.

. Selina- The Red Cresselia shows a lot of interest in Chiyer and his species. In return Chiyer shows interest in her culture. The two are close friends with almost similar personalities.

. Lorenzo- This fiery bunny irritates Chiyer with his hyper-active personality, they are extreme opposites of each other. Yet Chiyer respects him for his passion, determination and will. They aren’t really friends at all though. Lorenzo is also the one who unwillingly made Chiyer part of the ‘Big-Ear Bros’.

. Vanity- His overly happy personality irritates Chiyer to a degree. However he does think Vanity is pretty and may have fooled around with him once or twice. Out in public he tried to ignore Vanity, possibly to avoid getting flustered.

. Fwolo- Chiyer takes interest in his creative endeavours and admires a lot of what he does, even if the style isn’t quite what Chiyer is into. Fwolo is Chiyer’s closest male friend of the gang. Plus being around a fellow bug just feels right to the two of them.

. Sharna- While Chiyer doesn’t have any interest in her, Sharna keeps provoking him to show her how good he is in battle. Sharna just thinks he looks cool and strong.

. Vexa- Chiyer gets teased by her a lot and struggles to stand up to her. He doesn’t dislike her but she’s certainly a girl he can’t handle!

. Solana + Solea- Surprisingly Chiyer gets along with the two lakesprits quite well. Solana finds his personality entertaining, while Chiyer likes how confident she is. Honestly Solana has a bit of Chiyer’s personality in her. Solea and Chiyer on the other hand have a pretty chill friendship.

. Crescere- They’re not friends but have some funny interactions together.

. Karina & Abby- This Mawile bothers him constantly in public. Chiyer dislikes her immature mindset. If the two are arguing and her mother Abby enters the scene, Chiyer will change his personality and calm his nerves. He respects Abby immensely.

. Scarelle- Chiyer dislikes the gang that Scarelle is a part of, yet he sees past her charade, and she knows this too. Scarelle opens up to him as she very quietly wishes to leave that lifestyle behind someday.

. Catéline- A Hatterene friend who lives in another region. They met during their travels, and the two frequently write letters to each other.
