They've yet to win first place in the races, but they've done far more than just place fifth at best.
They managed to take what technology and scrap was tossed upon their home for almost centuries, and formulated an advanced powerhouse of a rocket vehicle. And once they'd placed themselves next to the champions of the Galactic Grand Prix, they'd shown the people that they're not quite the junkyard lurkers everyone once took them for. Coincidentally, they are also an active advocate for the interstellar recycling program. Demonstrating with the most impressive feats that disregarded electronics-- are not as useless as one might think.

They continue to improve their vehicle, and are feared by many companies and pilots, for their ability to work with almost any scrap thrown at them, and turn it into an advanced weapon of any field.

But most importantly. They act as an inspiration to their kind back at home. Representing a species that the galaxy commonly likes to pretend, bears no importance.
