My Mikey/Roger fanfic has recently gotten a bit of an overhaul, so to speak.
At first, it was supposed to be about Mikey's last two years at DeMontfort University, but now it takes place a few years after graduation. This has enabled me to put Mikey back with most of his fellow CM cast members, in that they're all now back to living in the same building (and possibly on the same floor) again. Only difference is, it's not a dorm building, but an apartment building.
Hence the fanfic's title, "The Den Menagerie."
Yeah, yeah, I know, not very creative or even good, but it fits as a sequel title. "Den" can refer to an animal's burrow/"home", after all, so it's arguably fitting since they're all no longer college students, but a bunch of twentysomethings looking to pay next month's rent.
The premise is that all 9 of these characters are back to living together by pure coincidence:
Tony and Kevin are still roommates in the same building they moved into when the original comic ended. Cindy and Denise are also still in the same apartment as well, only Lisa moved out. She ended up marrying Damon either during or sometime after college, and once Damon was sent off to infantry, Lisa moved away with him. The two are happily married to this day, enjoying a life of adventuring together.
But this left Cindy and Denise with one roommate short, and sent out ads. To their surprise, one of the applicants turned out to be Dani. Because they already knew the mouse (and didn't want to take any chances with some of the other weirdos who turned up), Cindy and Denise agreed to pick Dani as their new roomie.
Next, Scott and Biff moved into the building as roommates, having grown close during their fraternity days.
Lastly, Mikey wanted to find new digs because he found his current place unsatisfactory, and Cindy told him about an opening in her building. It was a two-bedroom, which meant Mikey would need a roommate as well...
Enter Roger, who was Mikey's dormmate during the roo's final two years at DeMontfort (that detail has remained unchanged in my fanfic). The two were friends during their first year of living together, but then the following year, started a secret romance. After Mikey graduated, the roo decided to call things off and they parted ways...
...only to literally run into each other about 4 years later.
Turns out, Roger wanted a place in town too, and since they got along so well as roommates before, why not move back in together? But wouldn't their past romance make things weird? Roger doesn't think so... especially since he's still carrying a torch for Mikey.
Everyone's ages:
Tony, Kevin, Cindy, Denise and Scott are all 26
Dani is 27
Biff is 28
Mikey is 25
Roger is 24
Everyone's occupation: (I'd like to discuss this with Vince, though he's already stated what some of them wound up doing after college)
Tony - I'm thinking he started seriously pursuing chiropractics
Kevin - I'd like to have him do something involving video games
Cindy - She works as a contract chemist for Mikey
Denise - I have the least idea of what she'd be doing
Scott - I'm playing with the idea that he's become a fashion/swimsuit/underwear model; his parents were a little concerned that he's not doing anything with his math major, although Scott argued that he can always fall back on it once his time as a model runs out; plus he likes that his good looks and sex appeal are finally being recognized
Dani - She's working at DeMontfort on the security crew
Biff - I have this idea that, for a long while, Biff remained at DeMontfort as the school's star football player... until he suffered an injury that permanently ended his sporting career... and thanks to that, his family now demanded that he get a job and start supporting himself... and the lion finds himself forced to accept a job as Kevin's assistant. Cuz I'm evil like that.
Mikey - He's running a successful insecticide company, which doesn't surprise me, considering how passionately scared and hateful he was towards bugs and spiders and other such things
Roger - In college, Roger was a film major, and after graduation, he threw himself into making his first motion picture... which actually wound up gaining critical acclaim. Though part of the reason was because his film had a lot of backing from his rich grandfather (on his mother's side), the movie actually was very well-made and thought out: it was "Cinderella" with a Hitchcockian murder mystery twist, where the unnamed princess is found dead in her pumpkin carriage at the start of the film... and then it's revealed to the audience that Cinderella and the princess are two different people when the real Cinderella comes out to serve tea when the inspector is interrogating the stepfamily. After the success of his first film, Roger decided to settle in the college town and open his own studio for future movies.
Oh yes, and this pic is based off this group shot of the original cast: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/175044/

I hope so! :D And thank you! Y'know, after thinking about it, Roger does fill some of the void left by Brad, Lisa and Damon:
Like Damon, Roger has some military involvement, and he knows how to be "one of the guys"
Like Lisa, Roger likes to glomp, is one of those "I love everybody!" types and is a little boy-crazy
Like Brad, Roger can cook and can go up against Kevin in a battle of wits (though the cat might be a little wittier... except that'd be no deterrent to Roger, who'd simply kick Kevin's tail like Brad did, lol)

Yes, lucky Roger. x3 Although I hope you think Mikey is lucky too?
Actually, I can't remember if I already told you this, but fun fact: Roger chose to go to DeMontfort of all colleges because he saw on the news that one robot explosion during Ryan and Michelle's wedding. Roger thought to himself, "That sounds like a fun school! Count me in!"
And when you consider that Mikey himself set off the chain of events that led to that explosion: first he acted like a pain in the @$$ to Ryan when they were partnered up together in high school, which resulted in Ryan nearly flunking and then being transferred and then wanting to seek revenge on the kangaroo, which resulted in Ryan repeatedly going after both Mikey and Tony, which included Ryan teaming up with Algernon, which resulted in the whole wedding fiasco...
So Mikey unknowingly set off a whole chain of events that resulted in him meeting the love of his love. :D
