On December 14th, the Stanislaus Thrust traveled to Santa Ana to face their California rivals, the Spectrums. Thinking the game would be won by containing Santa Ana's star shooting guard L.V. McDyess, coach Don Von Wasser pushed his team's D by giving plenty of floor time to brilliant defender Doral and their new bench point Randy Catcher. The pair put up a stunning combined defense, holding the Spectrums to just 88 points.

However, in the third quarter, both Doral and Catcher went after the same loose ball. Oops.

Play was stopped as Stanislaus trainers had to come and untie the pair. Dig 'Em was badly embarrassed by the event. Doral wasn't.
