male Ore are much shaggier than their female counterparts and grow thick, long manes to cover their neck, face, and shoulders - some of the most vulnerable parts of their bodies during fights and hunts. once a male Ore establishes himself in a herd and earns a harem he also grows a thick "beard" on his chin and jaw to signify his strength and dominance - not to mention attract the ladies ^__-
