Okay, so this is an assignment for my Virtual High School Zoology.
You need to design an animal with the given information.
"A new planet (Garblunk) has been discovered by scientists recently, and a team is going to be sent to the planet to learn more about it to determine if it's suitable for human life. What we do know about Garblunk is that it is quite different from planet Earth in many ways. Here is what scientists have learned about Garblunk:
* the average temperature is about 0oC on the entire planet.
* the terrain varies- in some areas, the ground is covered with purple spotted rocks. In other areas, there are fields of orange plant-like vegetation. There are many enormous craters on the planet as well - craters that are very dark and seem to be extremely deep.
* there are "oceans" but they are filled with a greenish goo-type of material as far as we can tell at this point
* in the "forests" of Garblunk there are large tree-like structures that reach 300 feet in the air. We are unsure what the floors of these forests consist of as the preliminary pictures can't penetrate through the trees.
* The forest areas also receive a lot of precipitation.
* there are mountainous regions as well - because the upper atmosphere of Garblunk is mostly chlorine gas (a greenish-yellow color) the upper parts of the mountains extend into this gaseous area.
We are aware that complex animal life exists on this planet, yet we've been unable to obtain photos of the animals yet. It is your task, as an Animal Adaptations Specialist, to come up with a prototype of what one of the Garblunk animals might look or act like, and present that to the team of scientists prior to their takeoff. They need to be aware of what life they may encounter when the finally reach the surface of the planet. Good luck on your mission - you have a week to complete it."
I needed to have the creature adapt to where it is soooo.. HERE YOU GO!
The Go-reke (go-reek)
The orange feelers and purple coat are designed for camouflage.
Its eyes are huge for being able to see in the dark craters.
The smooth body actually has really glossy fur, holding in warmth, but also making it able to swim in the green goo without getting the goo in its fur.
The webbed feet help it swim in the goop as well.
Tongue is for capturing other creatures since it is sticky and coated with an acid the dissolves flesh and bone.
It is omnivorous.
