Unfortunately, the true origin of the guarians is rather nebulous actually! Canonically, it isn't really known where they come from. They just sort of... appear, which is something the guarians seem to have a very odd habit of doing. For what it's worth, they're more so spirits than they are actually living things, though not exactly the kind of spirit that goes floating around and passing through walls. They're something more real, that you can feel (and hug), but all the same, they aren't necessarily "alive" in the traditional sense. Originally, they canonically aren't actually supposed to be inflatable, though considering how much I draw them like this, I'm honestly considering making it canon in some shape or form!
This has been an extremely rambly post, I realize, especially since I had just gotten out of bed and I'm literally just speaking my mind at the moment, but in closing, the guarians are very much open to interpretation! For all I know, they very well could be people who have transcended into a guarian form, or maybe there is a factory just churning them out somewhere, who knows! In the end, the guarians will always be quiet (or squeaky) beasts that simply wish to keep you company when they can!
Or, in cases like Wereguar and Serguar, maybe there's something more to them. Who knows!

I gotta say, I already adored the facelessness aspect of most of your characters, but there's something I realllly love about the whole "face polishing" thing going on in the middle there. ^^ Granted, it's more cleaning here rather then polishing, but it's a seldom seen concept with any sort of faceless art and maaaan is it nice~
