While passing through the high city of Anandria, I heard of a monster problem they were having. A terrible serpent had set up its lair near the river - at first, no harm was done. But as time moved on, the creature's presence began to foul the waters and taint the lands. It had begun to expand its demesne closer and closer to the villages surrounding Anandria...and then, people started to go missing. Healthy men and women who ventured away from their homes for work never came back. One night, the townsfolk woke up to sounds of a demonic hissing, and rushed to their windows to see the monster dragging away any luckless souls who happened to be on the streets late at night.
I was in town as discussion of sacrifice was being held. An old story - appease the beast with one life, and it will not come to claim many more on its own.
"Give me three days," I said.
