Taking a class in 3D modeling as an elective, because I've been horribly curious about this 3D... thing. I'm such a 2d artist, I don't have the faintest clue how to work in 3D.

Anyway, our second assignment was to take the blueprints for a clock and model it in 3ds Max. The plans have all the pieces and measurements, then you just assemble it all together. Since it was the group project and I have next to no expirience with the program, my group gave me just some basic parts to model. These are two of my favorites; a fancy looking gear and a brace for the top of the clock.

The first is me learning how to extrude from splines, while the second goes a step farther, connecting two pieces to make one whole, as well as slicing out those grooves in the front. They're even made to scale, though you can't tell that from the render. I'm pleased with my first exercise in modeling, but I've got a lot to learn still. x3
