Here my ideas.
It should be the crazy character in a beat em up, so make it the craziest possible. Go for a chameleon and forget the arms, all he needs is the tongue and the tail. He can punch people with his tongue! He has crazy eyes! His proportions are wonky, big torso, tiny limbs.
Joykill, if you want to color it, make the jacket orange or white, the body green and the spines red or pink.
