Here it is. The very first model I ever did myself. Finished it around 2000, and played a lot with lipsynch, if I ever get my own website finished I will probably put all the experiments there.
Other than that I can only say the character has been like a father figure to me, but it is not representing me.

One way you can do it automated is using different mesh subdivision options.. The skin was pretty low-rez and for a good result I had to sub-d it anyway. Now as you can see in the upper pictures I have different smoothing groups applied so the edges won't get smoothed.
What I did then was setting the first 2 sub-d levels with respect to these smoothing groups, and the finnal sub-d without.

I KNEW IT! I figured it was 3DSMAX. That program is the best I've used for 3D, and I've used three.
By the way, excellent work on this! The render is beautiful on top of the skins and such applied to the model. And the lighting is awesome as well! That's still something I need to learn...

Blimey.
Do you use standard scanline renderer then? It looks like a really good quality render.
I began MAX with version 3 and have kept up with it since.
The new hair & Fur in version 8 is nice... but it's coming a bit late in the day and I'm looking to move to Maya as soon as my new PC is built.
Not to mention MAX's fluidics is non-existent; compared to Maya's photorealistic offerings.

I started with max 2.5 (^vxxv^)
Well since Maya and Max is now owned by the same company the will slowly reach a similar standart. But true MAX is still missing a lot effects that Maya has, wich is also a reason for the frequent updates lately. But I must say I still don't see why they make 3 new versions and still don't implement fluids. BTW.. yes I use the standart scanline renderer.
