"...Let's see here... It's a poem, and I KNOW it's depressing, but what is it ABOUT?"
Well, this piece was inspired by a character I love very much, who has managed to gain immortality. And because he is immortal, he will inevitably be forced to watch the death of the one he loves... The actual poem is spoken from the point of view of on outsider--someone the immortal dude knows, but doesn't like too much. This person is telling the dude, "You really should think about your priorities... Which would you rather have: an everlasting life, or an everlasting love?"
How poetic...
Anyway, try your best to imagine Hannibal Lecter reading this to you... Believe me, it's fun! >_<

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your words, too; it's so interesting to hear what other people's outlooks are on the whole concept. Personally, I'd rather have an everlasting love, as, eventually, everlasting life would drive one to madness, I'd guess. Then again, watching the world continue to evolve throughout the ages might be a truly fascinating experience.
I suppose everlasting life coupled with love makes for the perfect solution. ^_^
