The decades spent traveling with the sibling earth dragons, Cain and Kaira, had revealed a great many things about the world to the young Ollimar. The power of legend, the meaning of strength, and the force of sheer will were among the many lessons the young forest dragon had learned at no small personal cost.
The young green had approached them as a starry eyed optimist, a trait the pair of earth dragons had quickly beaten out of him, both physically and mentally. Lucky to have survived in the first place, Ollimar didn't hold true resentment for the earth dragons, instead finding their time together both eye opening, and infinitely broadening and informative.
By the time the young green left their company, Ollimar had changed from the young, auspicious whelp to a strong-willed, self assured, conflict hardened dragon. Ollimar considered his journey a success, despite his countless hardships; broken bones, broken spirit, and a seemingly endless, wanton loss of life. He had learned so much. More than any elder could in their life time. And even more than that, he believed he'd left his mark in the minds of the two merciless, brown behemoths. In true forest dragon form, he'd planted and cultivated the seeds of empathy and mercy in both of their minds. Like any great tree, those seeds would require time, more than care, to grow.
Ollimar, however, had not emerged without his own tainting. Though he had been raised to offer humanity respect and comfort, his time with the brown dragons had stoked the fires of superiority. It was an unspoken truth amongst his kind that a human was a feeble thing to a dragon, but their mind was paramount to their being. A forest dragon was dissuaded from acknowledging the disparity in strength between themselves and their human "peers", despite all.
But what was the harm? If Ollimar didn't intend to bring injury to his human companions, the green didn't see any issue teasing and taunting them. A lick of the lips and teeth, a predatory gaze, and a rumbling growl... Ollimar found himself very much enjoying the act of making the little mammals sweat and stutter, reinvigorating a primal fear in the apes' subconscious minds. It was easy to stoke, like an eager flame, encouraged with a firm, passing grip and a food-themed pet name.
It seemed foolish to him to ignore the very apparent imbalance of power between them. Instead, he began to enjoy emphasizing it with those who he deemed fit. Strangely, he found some of the humans seemed to rather enjoy the treatment.
An awesome headshot from
VictoriaDAEDRA of Ollimar, looking a bit sinister. Please check her page out, her work is stunning.
Love the expression and the scales on this one, the lithe lad looking like he's scheming something. Can't trust them greens.
