An early example of mass transit. A horse drawn streetcar originally from one of the Louisville, KY streetcar lines of the early 20th century.
At the turn of the century Louisville hosted pretty much all forms of rail transit including horse drawn streetcars, electricfied streetcar lines, high speed interurban service connecting to Frankfort (state capital), and for a few years even had a single Elevated transit line from the river front to one of the industrial centers.
As for today Louisville has none of these and doesn't even have passenger rail service for a city its size.
