Bastion, The Last City is eternally besieged by eldritch horrors born of an impossible fusion of plague and mental illness. Spread memetically, merely seeing the horrors is enough to become infected, so only a rare few have the mental and physical fortitude to rise in the cities defense.

Numerous militias formed and remain since the cities founding but with the formation of Parliament came a formalized and militarized police force that would come to be known as the City Watch. Staffed primarily by alchemically cloned artificial humans known as Humunculi supported by natural born commanders with some specialists such as Orchish shock troops and Tiefling medics.
