In Japanese folklore, long-tailed cats ended up to become a yokai after many years. Their tails divided in 2 and they became malevolent. The bakeneko haunted and threatened his owner, walked on his 2 and spoke, spat fireballs, drank the oil from the lamps, took the shape of a human ; sometimes he even devoured cus owner to take his appearance and his place. Je could even reanimate corpses by jumping on them ! It was to avoid them that bobtail cats were developped and long-tailed cats tended to be killed
