After a long and peaceful evening walk, Dexter and Pickit decided to take a break and settle under the shadows of the hanging leaves of a giant willow.
The sun was slowly diving through the leaves, casting shade, creating a calm relaxing atmosphere. The wind floating through the trees and together with the singing birds, created a song no one else could ever sing.
"It's a really nice place to rest after such a long walk." Dexter said while he stretched his shoulders and yawned.
"It is… I'm a bit hungry though." Pickit said while laying down in the grass.
"I didn’t bring anything... I Didn't think we’d be out here for so long." Said Dexter while he lied next to the gryphon; enjoying the grass under his body.
"How about some sunflower seeds? I brought some from home." Pickit said as he grabbed a small cotton pouch out of his leather bag. “Here you go, help yourself. They’re quite special!” He said while grabbing a handful from the pouch and gives hands them over to Dexter.
"What's so special about them?” Dexter asked while he suspiciously investigated the seeds the gryphon gave him.
"Trust me, you’re going to love them!" he said with a grin on his face.
"Ehm... ooo-kay…” Dexter said as he thought ‘What could be so special about a seed?’ he shrugged and put a handful in his mouth. The flavors were rather strange... Even though Dexter knew that it would have a sweet taste. It was somehow also salted and a bit spicy. Even better than he thought!
"Wow! They’re amazing!" Dexter proclaimed as he took some more out of the bag.
"Yea! Just wait until it happens, they’ll give you the complete taste, like we birds have!" Pickit said with an eyebrow raised in anticipation.
"What should happen?" said Dexter as he ate more of the seeds. "The only thing that could happen is that I’d get sick from eating to much. They’re great!" He said, as he ate more.
Suddenly a burp escaped the human’s mouth. "Well... that came out of nowhe-" He tried saying but couldn't. His lips wouldn’t move anymore. They had stiffened!
"Told you." Said Pickit.
