You really caught the species of owl spot on, and I love how it's not a "threatening" appearance as many give Owls. :)

Scops owls only look a little scary when they've tried to shrink themselves - they get a really weird scowl. Funny when you consider that's them trying to hide... Their 'intimidation' just looks fat and hilarious.

I KNOW! I have a funny story with a scoop owl- we were visiting a Raptor Conservation center, and I was holding "Otis", the scoop owl. Well, a friend of mine was given to hold a Red Tail Hawk, no more than 4 feet from me... Otis became A LEERING TOOTHPICK. And then when moved POOF into a GIANT OWL PILLOW! It was adorable! They are my favorite Owl. All because of weeee little Otis with the bad eye.
