I loved the first one but for what it reminded me of. Abyss is my favorite over all of the franchise and Xillia maintained the style vs. Graces for instance, that split away from that classic style. Overall, the Tales series as a whole deserves more attention, each game holds something different for differing people.
There seems to be an odd and unjustified hate boner against the Xillia games from the general Tales community. At least as far as the west is concerned.
Honestly, I have no idea why. They're perfectly good games. I think people are generally spoiled and just like to complain. haha

I can understand the sentiment though. Xillia 1 is far from my favorite Tales game but 2 was great!
But I think the first one was so harshly criticized that the second game, sharing the name, was also affected. A shame really. It was a much superior game narrative wise. At least in my opinion.
