Shells are very durable things! But I imagine he could have also have sucked the squirtle right out of the shell!

Yeah that Squirtle is super dead. If this Houndour sucked him out through the head hole in the shell, all his bones would be crushed or some hardcore gore would happen... Like your art style though.
