Probably my third most dramatic encounter (out of about 6) with a bear. Luckily I was in a car when this (male?) black bear showed up atop a bluff. This is pretty much it, the bear looked at my car and then trudged off.

It almost looks like a grizzly, but this being California (where they are extinct) I find that unlikely.
