Yeah well, the narrative I crafted while I was working on it is pretty depressing... I'm no writer but this is more or less what I had in mind:
This story is about two waterweasel's... they don't have official names, but to make this easier the white one is called Amorette and the dark green one is called Cessair. Amorette travels around the Gulf of Mexico, and Cessair is the guardian of Florida's Gulf Coast Flatwoods (a very large swamp land). By chance these two meet on the boundary separating their respective territories, and over time forge a friendship that blossoms into love. As they begin to court one another Amorette asks Cessair to take her on a tour of his kingdom. However Cessair is reluctant since Amorette's markings aren't well suited to camouflage in the marsh lands, but he is eventually is convinced. Their trip together seems to be going very well until a storm starts to brew forcing them to go further inland. As they travel though the swamp Amorette is spotted by some fishermen... Amorette and Cessair get insnared in a net and both start to panic! Cessair is able to brake free, but Amorette is hauled into the fishermen's boat where they ride straight back towards the storm. Cessair tries to stop them but fails losing track of them in the hurricane that fallows. Months pass and Cessair is still desperately trying to find any trace of of his beloved, only to be devastated when he discovers the scraps of the fishermen's boat and Amorette's bones underneath. From that day on Cessair becomes a recluse, and unable to put his soulmate to rest carries her remains with him.
Sorry this story is pretty bare bones, I feel like it could use a lot of fleshing out. However this general concept really helped me focus in on the emotions I wanted to convey :)
