Deadman_Joe took of me during one of the raves I went to at ACFI 2019. It was a bit dark in the ballroom so I brightened it up as much as I dared.
Even though I just happened to be standing around here, I was usually going crazy when the beats was pumping. I can't really do my so-called "dance" when the beats stops and those buzzing sounds pops up. Thankfully that happened a lot less on the second night I went. Thursday was a bust for me as it had way too many of the stop-n-go moment. But even that was a whole lot better that TFF as that was full of that on all four nights I went. The band that played before the closing ceremonies was soooo much better, but I digress.
Even though I had a tendency of thrashing about, my horns only fell off once. The magnets I used held up well as long as I didn't jump up and down while whipping my head about like a mad dragon. I already have ideas to help the magnets hold better in my next iteration of the detachable horns.
Being the con theme of cyberpunk, I wanted to add a bunch of LEDs to my getup. Alas, I ran out of time so I just only had a few items. I got these blue LED bracelets at the dollar store that I found fits over my horns nicely. They are static and doesn't flash but that was ok.
I also used this LG phone that I got for cheap with an armband. I downloaded an audio app that has both an oscilloscope and spectrum display on the screen. Gave a nice effect methinks.
Another thing I did was to use my extra extra extra long tongue, which whipped about nicely along with my ears. By the way, it is held on by hook-n-loops fasteners so I can swap them out easily with my "normal", when I am not felling silly sized tongue.
I wonder if there is any videos of me at the raves. Probably too scary to show on the interwebs anyway, so for the best. Then again, I am curious on how bad it is.
EDIT: I forgot to add that not a lot of people had the usual rave LEDs and glowsticks. One thing about TFF, a lots of people were lit up. I thought with the cyberpunk theme, a bunch of people would be lit up like Christmas trees. Oh well. I also wished the music was cyberpunks themed. I was going to be so into that. What a missed opportunity.
