I'm taking the inktober challenge this year, 2019! For me the inktober will be a prompt list of experiment doodles for me. My goal? Only use values. Grayscale. Black and whites. No colors at all. This is the only rule for my personal journey this inktober~ As you all might know, I'm quite a colorful-sparkle-overload. So this is something I hope with enough elbow grease will help me creatively expand while also having a lot of fun! The biggest goal out of this journey? HAVE FUN. THIS IS FOR FUN. No time limits, no hard rules (except for no colors), just have fun. c;
What do we say? Never be afraid to draw badly!
Inktober 2019 - Build
It was hard juggle between doing some silly minecraft fanart orrr to lisen to Prov's idea to try doing Mother Lintling practicing making new friends. He claims he just wants more art of Mother and thinks she's interesting. (/^▽^)/
So let's take a moment to examine Mother Lintling. She is literally the first of her kind. A rodent prop that was made for the leisure of mortals. At first, her "birth" was very exciting to her. She loved learning about the humans/mortals and all about the world around her. However she wasn't too pleased about all the nondescript rules and specifically why those rules had to exist. Mother enjoyed her time with her creator for a few months, but ultimately decided they needed to part ways so that she may explore even more of the world around her. For it was all just so fascinating to her, she couldn't wait to start her adventure.
It would only take a few days for Mother to realize the world is not nearly as straight forward as she had assumed. Not expecting other mortals to react so poorly to her rodent like appearance and glowing eyes. Not to mention the other creatures she would casually meet along the way were none to friendly either!
Finding refuge in an abandoned thrift store, she decides for the time being this dusty space will be her home. It wasn't nearly as nice as her "palace (read: cage)" back home with her creator. But she was sure she could fix that herself. Once a nice den and social area are cleaned up, Mother is left sitting there.
"How do I make friends..." The little rodent wondered to herself. Grooming those beautifully shaped wing-like ears, it doesn't take long for Mother to decide to try making other lintlings. Things that looked just like her. In a flurry of excitement she spends the next several days exploring the shop, finding all sorts of materials, and working those little hands designing all sorts of doll looking rodents. It was so much fun. But... Mother was a bit disappointed by the quiet company. She had spent all her time crafting these dolls to place around her new home and talk to absent mindedly as she worked. But the lack of response was starting to get to her. This feeling, it was something she felt even back home with her creator. Loneliness she believed it was called. Holding a paw over the sparking gold stitching on her chest. Ever so gently, buh-bump... buh-bump... She could feel it. She could hear it. She was alive. Looking at the doll she had just finished putting together a cute round face, she reaches out and gently runs her paw over it's cheek.
For a moment, Mother swears she heard something. Ripping her paw away from the doll, she stands upright on her tippy toes scanning the empty dusty room. She could have sword she heard something, as faint as it was. Turning back to the doll she paused, "H..hello?" No response. Of course. Sadly she smiles at the doll, "Sorry. For a second, I thought maybe I wasn't alone." Gently taking the doll into her paws, she presses her face to it's face and gently nuzzles the doll.
buh-bump... buh-Bump... Buh-BUMP!
Mother opens her eyes and takes a step back. That time she heard it for sure. It was a heart beat, but not her own! She haphazardly looks around the doll, trying to understand where the noise was coming from. Slowly she leaned an ear in real close, just under it's chin. She didn't really hear anything now? It looked normal enough. Cute big button eyes, a stitched smile to help her smile. Leaning it back in her arms, she sighs, "If only. Well, you're still my friend so don't worry." Mother wraps her little arms around the doll and mushes her cheek to it's cheek.
buh-bump. Buh-Bump!
Once her face touched the dolls face, she could hear the unfamiliar heart beat again. She closes her eyes and holds the doll close. Trying to listen to the heart beat inside of it.
Buh-Bump! Buh-Bump!
She found it. Her forehead pressed to the dolls. She could hear it's heart beat perfectly. The doll grew soft and squishy in her arms, opening her eyes she gasped watching the light bend and move around the doll, it was only a few blinks at best but the snowman shaped doll evolved into... well another Lintling! A rodent of plush much like herself. The only real standing differences is those big button eyes now blinked into real eyes! Their arms could open and move out from their body. The new lintling stumbles back some before Mother catches them and helps them regain their footing.
"Hello." Mother says softly to the new lintling. "Will you be my friend?" She cautiously asks the new rodent. It stared at her for a long moment, blinking at her and the new dusty world around them. Once it's eyes carried back to Mother, the new lintling smiled to her. And what they said next made Mother's heart begin to sing.
