The bishop-fish is a cryptid observed in Europe in 15th and 16th centuries looking like a humanoid fish provided with human intelligence and expressing himself through signs, and serving as bishop for mermaids and mermen. One was said to have been fished a first time in 1433 in Poland and was said to have been gifted to the king. Presented to a group of bishops, he asked to be released. They did so, and he thanked them with a cross sign. Another one was said to have been fished in Germany in 1531 and was Said to have died after 3 days for not having fed himself
