Doing some character work for my encyclopedia thing for Shade Master and Half Blood. Thought I would post it here too for mah buddies.
*General Info
The gods system in Arde is kind of complex. There is the creator, his children, the self-appointed gods, spirits, and demi-gods. These four are like the big brothers and sisters of the demi-gods, because they are just more important and Filejo likes to pick favorites! (yey)
They watch over the world and take an active part in the lives of humans. The only problem is that by the time Shade Master takes place the world's magic has been diluted by technology, therefore making it unfit for these four to travel freely in their human-esque forms.
*Individual Info
~Durathror (Guardian of the North)~
-Also called "Alex", he is the brainchild of mine and a friend with whom I have parted ways. I'm positive that he still retains his own version of Alex, but mine was such a BIG part of the world and the stories that I couldn't give him up or really change him. So! If you see other versions of him round the net, I didn't copy. Alex just became integrated into my world more and within the past year I've revamped him a bit to fit my vision. No drama intended! I just figured I would give credit where it is due~
-Animal/God form: White stag, can also take the shape of a small, shenlong style dragon.
-Personality: Alex is a world wonder, and he'll keep it that way thank you very much! His bubbly, outgoing personality is a defining factor. He's a god, and he knows it, and he rarely goes by the rules EVER. A genius and master of Ancient magics, Alex's sweet demeanor makes it easy for him to make friends, and also to annoy the hell out of demons: Rakka especially. He is a natural womanizer, a protector of children, and takes his role as a teacher very seriously. He can be vengeful and invoke wrath upon anyone who tries his patience or hurts his friends. He was raised by the Hjal, Filejo's chosen people, and trained to be the wise teacher he is known to be, although no one would know it when they first meet him. Basically he loves life, loves everything in it, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
-Relationships: the 4 are his family, but he also has a second family with Rakka. Although he has a few choice lovers around the world that he flits off to when he gets bored, his one love of loves is Sigrdrifa, Rakka's half sister. Alex can be anywhere at one time whenever he wants, but is with them that he genuinely calls "home".
~Feira (Guardian of the East)~
-Animal/God form: a yellow fox (obviously)
-yes, she was based loosely off the Keaton from the Zelda games. She is my ode to the awesomeness.
-Personality: Feira is the youngest of the gods and everything about her is youthful, sunny, hyper, and HAPPY. She is a bit clumsy, a little flighty and sometimes forgets what she is doing. That makes her an elusive creature with the mortals. Many games are dedicated to finding the mythical golden fox of Arde, and she has a good time with it. She is definitely a trickster. Even if she lets them catch her, even if they kill her, she always comes back to life somehow. For her its more of a sport than it is for them. She will make elaborate "tales" challenge her captors to riddles and make deals that she will never hold her word to. She's just a cute, fuzzy critter who drives people absolutely insane.
-Relationships: She has no attachments to any mortals. The only one she really gets a long well with is Durathror. When the 4 of them come together, the reason for nonproductive meetings is usually THEM. She loves all of them equally though!
~Vairullius (Guardian of the West)~
-Otherwise known as "Vai" she was created a long time ago to be Ajahli's rival but instead became a god. Yay.
-Animal/God form: a hawk
-Personality: Vai is incredibly shy, albeit a bit predatory too. Her tower is an institution of sorts, a rehabilitation for those who have been possessed by demons and need to be healed. She takes her job very seriously and has been conditioned for it since she was first "born". She doesn't meddle with mortals much unless she absolutely has to. She's just your average god working way too hard that she forgets to smile sometimes (thats..pretty average... right?). She isn't made of total fail, though. Vai is a devoted, passionate girl who has a tough job. She keeps the world safe.
-Relationships: the second middle child, like Durathror, she is kind of between all things and prefers to take the backdrop of situations and meetings. Corinth often harasses and belittles her mercilessly for her lack of participation, and Feira's high energy is a bit much for her introverted personality. The only one she really gets a long with is Durathror, of course. They grew up together closer than the others did and when she makes a mistake he is usually there to back her up.
~Corinth (Guardian of the South)~
-Animal/God form: a white whale
-Personality: Corinth is cold and serious, and is usually the one who when his younger siblings screw up, has to fix everything. He has no sense of humor whatsoever. Durathror constantly accuses him of being a sorry old fool because there isn't much in the South save for a few isles and what's the point? But Corinth prefers to be alone, prefers to have his space, and couldn't care less.
-Relationships: Corinth loves his siblings like any older brother should, but when he calls them to meet all he can do is gripe at them and complain. And that just makes them irritate him more. He has no attachments to mortals either, because it's just easier that way, and he protects his tour with ferocity, imparting wisdom upon those who fight to get to the top. Naturally, the towers of the guardians are legends of many mortals and immortals alike. His, however is the one most sought after, the one that is most challenging. Which he sees as rather unfair. He would rather do his job without any hitches. Most of the adventurers that come his way are sent to him by Alex anyway.
