You were in your office reviewing the papers. Days ago the whole city was in pure chaos. Thousands of patients in less than a week. They died, came back to life and attacked everyone without differentiating, without saying anything, they were alive, but at the same time dead. The special team burned entire parts of the city, your own city. You looked out the window and saw a new house burn. People tried to leave the city, but it wasn´t possible, the authorities by the order of the monarch blocked all the exits. You didn´t try to leave, you had to occupy yourself until the last second of the city. Thousands of requests, ordinances arrived every hour. The best alchemists worked day and night to find out the origin and the only thing they find out that it isn´t a natural disease, but a disease mutated by magic. There was no cure, because that kind of magic was forbidden in your country and whoever is responsible wasn´t going to offer to fix it. The time was running out. You felt nothing, really, no worry, no fear. You knew that you´ve done everything possible for the city. In the afternoon, you started to feel bad. You knew that sooner or later it would arrive. Several more days and you no longer felt anything. Everything turned black, the sounds went out and the perception was reduced to nothing. You felt something and you felt nothing. You didn't know how many years went by, maybe decades or maybe just a few months.
First you felt a metallic taste in your mouth, it was blood. Then a voice rumbled in your head, the sounds were heard quite loudly. You opened your eyes and still didn't see anything, until after a few minutes everything went back to normal. You moved, but your body just dropped. You were in a kind of cell. You looked at your legs and arms, at least they were whole. There were wounds... that were not bleeding anymore. The voice became closer and blue eyes looked at you strangely. You tried to say something while you got up, but the muscles still didn't respond. You were thirsty.
It took you several days to get up. You didn't want to look in the mirror anymore. Your black hair turned gray in some places, your almond eyes turned white and a wound on the face that didn't heal even with magic, not to mention horrible black scars and dark circles. Better yet, your heart was no longer beating, well it was beating so slowly that it could be considered as vital function. Even so you breathed, although you didn't need it either and felt thirsty and hungry, it was by habit rather than necessity. You were basically dead and yet you were conscious and remembered all your life, except for the last month that it was somewhat blurry. The alchemists made all kinds of tests, but they didn´t understand what the origin of the recovery was. Maybe it was luck? For you it was almost a punishment, because on the way back you understood that almost 30 years passed. 30 years of darkness and changes for which you weren´t prepared. Your city was no longer the same. It was burned and restored from scratch. They told you that your servant locked you in the dungeons and only after several years, when they discovered your cell, the alchemists thought that it was possible to find out the origin of that disease, since you were in an almost coma state.
Little by little you return to the activity, the new monarch (son you already knew) came to see the miracle with his own eyes. You feel like a strange little criature. You order a mask, to cover your face, you don't want to observe or scare anyone. Sometimes you stare at the window for long hours and see children, who point with their fingers and run away. Days later you hear the rumor of the horrible ghost of the palace. You laugh. Years go by, but you're still the same, don't get involved, nothing changes, sometimes you hear your heart beating a little faster, it's the only change. Sometimes you feel hungry that you can't satisfy...
