"I found myself dangling beyond the metaphor. I clutched my reservations, some more recent than others, their size to the world insignificant but weight tremendous in my inch near freefall. My heart begged not to let go of their wilting artifact. Suspended upside-down, blood rushed to my heart, swearing my love true, begging for a newfound closure to persuade that I was no liar, yet only I was my jury. My bouquet whispered a plea for a bargain. I hung in desperation but couldn't see, my vision coarse, clouded by convictions I shouldn't have professed guilt for.
I cannot recall how long I clambered by the edge. Any footing I could maintain was a sob at a collapse I couldn't brave, to a climb I hadn't the strength to overcome.
One day, the hemorrhages reached my skull. My weight became light as I prepared for a perceived inevitable. As I readied the world to shut itself blind and sentence myself to this fate, I came to the decision that I would not subject my despair into the dying floret. With one final breath, I relinquished the bonds to my heart, and let the gale swallow what I'd carried through the indefinite.
Beyond the clouded sky, the dawn breached, angels caressed by the sunlight as they blossomed back to life and fell safely to the endless ground below. I watched their wings flutter in their multi-color, each one vastly different than the other but all nonetheless significant.
Just as I accepted my fate and tinted my eyes shut, I was blinded by the warmth of light, blinking several times over before coming to the realization my chest had now lightened. To my shock, my heartbeat remained, and even as the flora made its distance, I could still see them clearly, full of life, as if they were smiling back at me in reassurance.
I stared at the sunrise for a while longer, squeezing the umbilical cord of life that refused to let me slip, patient and absentmindedly absorbing the bittersweet brightness of euphoria that overtook the skyline."
