Markus' head suddenly burst to the surface of the pungent pile of socks. He gasped as he stared up and found Peyton looking down on him. “Awww... Busted!” The human exclaimed with mock disappointment.
“Sir Markus! Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you! And… my socks...” Peyton stared down to find pretty much every single sock that’s been missing its pair in the past two weeks. The college knight sighed. “Why are you... Hoarding my used socks?”
“Hoarding? HOARDING?!” Markus exclaimed, diving back into the pile and making it practically explode from the activity within. “Sir Peyton! I have been meticulously gathering these socks for a very special collection! I will not allow you to undersell the amount of effort I put into it! After all it is meant to symbolize my love for your feet, to honor them!” It was quite clear that Markus wasn't entirely... sober. Yet he seemed to be having a really good time.
“You seem quite ‘drunk’ from all the musk and sweat of my socks. No wonder I couldn't find any pairs lately.” The college knight could clearly tell Markus wasn’t in his right mind and thus he tried to grab the little bugger. But Markus' movements made no sense, he would hiccup and suddenly appear in the different part of the pile as if he was teleporting.
“Every collection, Sir Peyton, must have exactly one of each of its pieces. I do keep some spares for... *HIC*.... more private use...”
Peyton tilted his head sideways, clearly the little fellow was having too much fun with this. “In that case, might I borrow one of these?” He asked picking one of the socks that would help him make a proper pair.
“S-sure!” Markus exclaimed, a shit-eating grin on his face. “They’re your socks after all.” He chuckled. “And you can smell them up all nice and gooood, ehehehe!”
The college knight laughed in response to this. “I will do my best Sir Markus. And you, please stay safe in there, alright?” Peyton asked and after getting a reassuring nod from his tiny roommate, went about his business.
