Honestly, I wasn't there for the "actual" origin of the famous series. I've never saw the original "gather the orbs" saga, and don't have the time to invest in it. But, of course, I knew of it's existence...and at some point and time, learned that Toonami had it on it's animation block. Unfortunately, by the time I noticed, the...'season' I guess you could call it, was already heavily in, and I don't like starting things in the middle....

I am of course talking about.....Rigel, could you?

Dragon Ball! Well...Dragon Ball Z, Kai, Super...however they...call it. Just go with DB!

Yeah, so, anyway...didn't really get into it since I like to start from the beginning...or at least some beginning where I can be decent enough to jump into. One day, though, Toonami decided to have a marathon starting the 'Buu Saga' of DB Kai...and figured, why the heck not.
I KIND of knew about some of the people. Goku, Krilian, Vegeta...I knew the big names. Sure, I didn't know their full stories, but so what, gotta start SOMEWHERE right?

Boy...that 'Buu' guy....

Yeah...the living bubblegum. Buu doesn't sound too scary at all. But Majin? I know that from Disgaea, and THOSE guys don't full around...

Big season that was! About as long as ALL the other ones before it in the Kai series!

Yep...Buu was a klutzo powerhouse that went through so many transformations....a lot of people died...and a lot of fighting....

Granted, there was some power-ranger 'fighting' stuff at times, but overall, watching the marathon made me get why people liked the show and why it's so successful.
Could go on, but lets not. So, the Buu saga was a nice big intro. But then Super came out, the very beginning of a new saga set right after Buu. Now, these things humans call 'gods' came into the mix.

The show keeps amping itself up! First DESTROYER gods...then OTHER universes...then the CREATOR of everything!

Yeah, that seems to be DB's theme, always upping things. You think "Super Saiyan" is great...taking out a guy who can destroy planets....but then it gets 2, then 3....and soon enough THAT doesn't matter. Then you have to go 'blue' then...'red'...something....then Kyo Ken it and....
Honestly, that's a slight drawback in the show I think...you see this powerful form and it kicks butt, but then it's useless later, no real point to it.

Yeah, the initial bit with Beerus was a good show....then came Frieza....

Yeah...I may have known little about the show, but I have heard THAT name and remember seeing what he looked like. Needless to say, seeing him down the line got me wondering just how much of a brutal guy this...thing was.

Anyway...then came Universe 6, introducing OTHER universes. Yeah...gods of destruction weren't enough, and Dragon Ball apparently couldn't do more with it's universe...so it troduced ANOTHER one...eessshh....

Cool concept though, that it's kind of similiar....like how 6 has the Sayian homeworld and all.

*shrugs* Parallel universes isn't a long shot to me. I REALLY thing that ruler of the Saiyan world that was mentioned was some kind of alterate Vegetta...or his dad right?

Anyway, that was a whole mess...leading up to Goku's BIG mess. I know people defend Goku on it...but honestly...given the CREATOR(s) of everything being with the mind of a child....they could have FORGOTTEN about the whole 'destroy the universes thing'....

Yeah, I admit, that whole thing was AMAZING. So many fights, so many unique people...
But the whole fact that the loses have their WHOLE universes ERASED? JEEZ...\
