<LoL!> I really could see this as how Twilight would 'unwind' if she had a desire to feel all little again. Pad up and pretend over all she dreamed of before she ever made it to the Entrance Exams for Celestia's School For Gifted Unicorns.

I could also imagine how she might have gone back to diapers for a bit after getting out of them. Maybe, as she continually delighted in reading and writing, she got bothered about how her mind had a hard time remembering things if she didn't see them through uninterrupted. She then finds some diapers that had not been used when she was finishing her training, puts one on, and doesn't look back as she has absolutely nothing to take her away from her mission of being the best Unicorn ever!

Then you'd know Shining Armor would find out and let his mom and dad know that Twili is wearing diapers like a foal. Night Lite and Twilight Velvet would assure Shining that they 'knew' and were going to humor it unless it became more than what it was. Play it off as a 'phase'.

Now we have twilight, all grown up and pounded with stress and responsibility, finding herself drawn to thinking back when the world seemed a far bigger place. Before she became Celestia's student and was always awed by the Princess' abilities. Dreaming of a future that had not yet come... nor needed to during her little time to herself. :)

Oh, in a Ponyville that's weird already, Twilight is fessing up that her magic made a bunch of diaperponies...some of whom don't seem to mind at all (Pinkie, Fluttershy and possibly even Celestia) while others can't stand it (at first) like Rainbow Dash or Diamond Tiara (though some ponies think that's karma for her). All because Twilight was jealous of a very unique Ponyville citizen Rarity had an eye on.
