From silicone to first cast.
1: The sculpt is done and the first layer of silicone of poured. At this point you can see the fine details under the silicone show through.
2: After many layers of silicone (some impregnated with paper fiber for strength) you can see on the second to last layer that it is quite thick.
3: The last layer was done and you can see the keys at this stage, along with the first part of the 2 part plaster jacket.
4: The mould is done and is cast from the inside.
5: After a couple of days of drying (and some gentle tickling with a heat gun *wink*) you can see the first pull came out really well! (despite the air bubble on the other side of the nose)
Since then I have cut the jaw and eyes, and unfortunately I cast it waaaay to thick to use as a full mask. I may finish the top as a kind of headdress, or finish it as a wall art piece.
