Saaaaad mousie. Go cry, emouse.
I suppose I rested upon the concept that Artie's marriage "tattoos" are most likely just a pattern of dyed fur that needs refreshing probably every few weeks. Tattoos wouldn't show through fur, and branding is a bit beyond him.
Foreshortening problems with this picture. See: Artie's right arm, our left. If I better figure out foreshortening soon I may update this piece.
Edit: Some little fixes with the hair, some lines... I worked on his arm a little. It's not perfect but I think I'll leave it as-is.

Double posting, I don't even care. I noticed that Artie's right arm (left from our perspective) Only seems to have two joints, due to his paw resting on his leg. His left arm (on the right from our perspective) seems to have three joints. Seems a bit nit-picky, but it looked unnatural and was just something that bothered me. Otherwise, well done, Immy.
I like how all of his hair is growing out. As opposed to how he used to have Beatle-bangs in the front and long in the back. It suits him.
Also, I get a kick out of the idea that the Old Artie would not have chosen to pose shirtless. :3
Re: his arm-have you tried posing in front of a (preferably full-length) mirror and just sketching how the hand looks from there? That's what I do if I need a ref when doing hands and arms.

HIS HAIR. I wanna pet it. I bet Melusine would too. MORE B'AAAAAW.
I really really like that you're adding more of a the species into the style, you've done a lot more than just change the eyes. But on the species, don't mice have really obvious pink noses?
And on the subject of fur tattoos... Regardless of what the fur does, wouldn't he still have the tattoos on his skin underneath? If you really wanna play with it, you could say the tattoos changes the pigment the fur grows as. It'd still shuffle around like you've shown it, but it's one train of thought.
If that sounded pompous, I didn't mean it to be. I really like this whole progression you're doing, and I'm sure lots of other folks feel the same. ^^

Not denying that. I just propose the idea of having something, not ink, that makes such a reaction so it does change the fur/hair growth. It's more than just a hand-wave explanation, but not -really- that much better.
We've got a world full of anthros that've adjusted millions of things about normal human life to being furred/tailed/scaled/etc lives, just a thought as to something else that could be adjusted. *shrug*

I think his forehead looks fine. That one arm, though.... I agree that his arm needs work. Also, it could just be the lack of a background, but his posture kinda looks like he's just floating there.... I mean, I imagine a floor, and maybe something that he's sitting on, but he back, lower legs, and feet just seem too vertical for him to be crouching.
PS: Am I the only one who thinks it looks like his pants are bulging a little?

Now that I think of it, even if he chose to have marriage tattoos, didn't Melsuine die? Or do she exist in spirt (al a Joel's sister)? Guess I will have to wait another week to find out. Oh well. Nice work so far, btw. Like the new deigns. The ones I like so far are Joel, Matt (sans the creepy grin), and this one.
I like Artie like this. He's sad but he also (with help from the markings) looks ready to go commando on those responsible for his grief.
That reminds me, I've always felt that Artie was responsible for the reported oil spill at the dolphin city (the one one Joel denied causing). Would he stoop to revenge or just feel sorry for himself? 'cause at that point he definitely felt vengeful.

Just a suggestion (something I've thought of for a while for fur patterns) there would or could possibly be a way to change a fur colour permanently by working at the gland level, which would indeed make it a tattoo of sorts.
As for the forshortning, if the elbow is going back, it needs to get smaller near the elbow, and our left (his right) hand needs to be at least the same size as the one on the right, that might help :)

The opposite of the other Artie pic, I think this one shows his willingness to fight and a loss of his vulnerability that was further enhanced through the "Metastasis" story line.
Sorry for interpreting character pics, Immy, but I'm starting to see inside the essence of what makes them individuals, even if good or evil.
