Sun Sword? Did he borrow that thing from Thundarr the Barbarian?

Specifically it's called the "Sun Blade." and it's a rare item from D&D, He got it within the campaign and it sort of stuck as his main weapon.

Sun Blade... Then at higher levels, Holy Avenger, the best paladin weapon in the game.

Definitely the best weapon for a paladin. In a d&d campaign I ran a while ago, which was the Tyranny of Dragons hardcover with some homebrew, the vengeance paladin got one of those and ending up wrecking Tiamat in the big climatic encounter.

I played that campaign... We "all" threw everything but the kitchen sink at her. That paladin got mad lucky.
A shame the person in question had to huff and leave our group over such a petty squabbie. ;.;

Funny you both mention that, Because i recently wrapped up Tyranny of Dragons with the final battle with Tiamat (Which i allowed a friend outside of the game to control her for shits and giggles to make it harder.) Barquin was the only person who was in melee range with her.

Tiamat, insulted by this decided to unload completely into Barquin. The Paladin however decided for once to drop his shield since she hit him constantly and fought two handed with his sun blade, He was taken down to 1 HP and then the PC's just healed him back up much to her frustration.

Taking Breath weapons, her claws and a legendary bite action which the person playing tiamat said "Is it okay that i eat him?" i said yes (Because he casted Death Ward on himself just as a "fuck you" to tiamat which means he'd be able to burst his way out of her stomach but that didn't happen lol.) Because she rolled a natural 1 to hit him and was healed up again. Only for the Rogue to get the final blow with a natural 20 Sneak attack.

Barquin tanked the fuck out of that fight so hard, he basically collasped after the fight and no doubt was fucked up fighting a goddess at half power, Yet they all survived so it was pretty coolio.

How weakened was Tiamat at the final ritual? Ours was pretty well fought.
Likewise, the spawning point does put Tiamat at a huge tactical disadvantage, but at the same time, I found a way she could have exploited her situation horrendously for overzealous melee characters.

Paladins are nuts in this edition.

Very weakened, They stopped the sacrifices, They removed the Dragon Mask from Severin's body (After Tiamat was summoned.) and the Druid used an Earthquake spell to heavily damage the temple.

It was well fought as well though, but most of the PC's supported Barquin (The only one that was in melee of her.) and the others just did their own thing and dealing with the other red wizards and stuff.

Oh nice! we pulled off similar stunts as well. Yeah, when she's weakened like that and she's trying to pull out, you get a **HUGE** drop on her.

At least it was a good fight for the PC's and to finally end that campaign lol
