Drew this at FC for
as a badge commission and it helped to pass the time while I was running my table. It took me all weekend, only because there were almost always folks hanging around my table, looking over stuff. Guess that means my wares may have a future! Heh.
Anyway, I'm glad that Kalemendrax liked my first badge that I ever made!

Note: the badge is so much more bright and solid in person. Scanners SUCK... OFFICIALLY, man. :P

FC was a blast, but I think that anthro-Con will have to be a "just for fun" trip and not a working trip. First, because I'm sure their Artist Alley and Dealer's Den are already full up, and second, 'cuz I bet those spots are EXPENSIVE. :) Also, being on the other side of the country, it makes for an interesting decision as to how to get there: planes trains or automobiles.
I think the den is full by noaws, yeah. As for how to get here, I suggest trains. It'd probably be about as expensive as any other method, but you get to see the great scenery and don't need to do the driving (and that'd take a week! I've done it--route 66 is purdy, but a one-time deal, after about 6 days you're like, "ok, enough of this I just want to get there").
If you go by train, Amtrak runs a route with one transfer in Chicago to Pittsburgh which is the fastest and cheapest with two nights, and I recommend you get a sleeper roomette... if you have two people for the cabin it's about $400 one way, meals are included, and you have access to the lounge car ($214 each person one way with just coach seats, but you pay for your meals, no lounge car, and it's hard enough sleeping in the roomette beds... trying to sleep in the coach chairs would suck)
I just checked Amtrak and you would need to leave Monday evening and would arrive Thursday morning
(and apparently the roomettes on the first leg are already sold out if you were to take the train home as well and leave the con for home on Monday...)

Ouch. Nice that meals would be included, though- do they have a vegetarian menu, I wonder? I'll eat meat, sometimes, but Kani is veg. The only problem would be that the Con itself is something like three-to-five days, add in the four days (round-trip) and it's definitely something Kani would have to ask for vacation-time for. Not sure if we could do that, when we could get a plane ticket w/return for around the same price and be there in a day... He's most likely to go for that option, I think. And I don't want him having to drive across the country, living on energy drinks to stay awake, since he's the only one who can drive right now (I don't have a license, yet). Mind you, we still haven't had our honeymoon... Heh...
I believe you can specify any dietary restrictions before hand, like you can on an airplane. The menus should be listed for the trains, too.
I just remember that the garlic flat iron steak I had for dinner when I took the zephyr up to Oregon last year was the tenderest, yummiest steak I ever ate, ever. (hey, when meals are included, why not pick the most expensive option?)
looking at Amtrak's site again, there's a veggie burger lunch option, a vegetarian pasta dinner option, and breakfast includes traditional options like french toast and pancakes, so it looks like there's at least one non meat option for every meal

No worries on that tail monies- I can wait a bit. If you want a badge, just let me know when you'd like it for, and I'll start scribbling. These are traditional work- and now that I'm back where my markers all are, it should be stronger-coloured than this one (there will be coloured-pencil accents and soft lines on top, though).
