Epilogue :
Glowingroot had noticed lately how Dogtail seemed to be looking at her more and more. It wasn't odd to her, most cats looked at her in a weird way. However, his look wasn't of disgust or confusion like most. No, his was a look she had never been given before. Not even by Frecklebranch. Whenever she caught him staring, he would usually turn his head away, acting like he wasn't gazing at her with eyes of fondness or affection. Glowingroot thought it was kinda cute, and honestly was curious how he really felt. So, she devised a plan.
The Plan :
The small young warrior made her way over to the warrior who had been staring her down for the past hour and smiled brightly to him, her tail lifted high in the air. Tilting her head, she purred with her eyes half lidded. "Hey Doggy! Care to go out on a patrol with me?" She asked, her voice soft but full of energy as usual.
The gray and white tabby tom stared at her with big brown eyes, his face looking flustered before nodding. "S-Sure. I wouldn't mind!" He replied, his voice holding a tad bit of excitement.
Beaming, Glowingroot walked past him, her tail sliding across his flank flirtatiously. "Well then, let's go!" The young warrior made her way to the camp entrance, stepping out past the barrier and glancing over at Dogtail who followed more slowly behind. She gave a bright smile and turned, heading into the territory of Stormclan.
It was nice out, Leaf-fall already here, but it was one of the warmer days, before the leafs decided to change color and fall to the ground. There was plenty of leafs on the ground, and a few branches here and there, but nothing that signified that the cold season was on it's way. Well... accept for the cold wind that was flowing through her whiskers.
Glancing up at the much taller tom cat, she noticed his face was flushed still, and he turned his eyes away quickly, trying to make it less obvious that he was watching her. Glowingroot only smiled and flicked her tail against his, feeling the feather she had placed on it. Looking back at it, she smiled, the lovely red complementing his pale gray fur and deep brown eyes. It filled her with joy to see the usually depressing tom cat happy for once. Sometimes she would even catch him staring at the feather on his tail for long periods of time. Just gazing at it intensely. He must really think it's pretty too.
Looking back up at the big tom, she tilted her head, catching his eye again, but he looked away quickly. Shaking her head, Glowingroot commented. "If you're going to look at me, just look at me. Don't think I don't notice you're staring at my fur all the time." She teased, bumping her shoulders with him and chuckling happily.
It was then she noticed his eyes going wide, his face darkening in color and his whiskers twitching up. Blinking her own large eyes, Glowingroot wondered what could be the matter with him. Then, realization hit her. He had a crush on her. Lowering her head, sniffing the ground, she thought on this. Dogtail was a far bit older then she was, and she was only made a warrior only a couple moons ago. Did he always have a crush on her, or was it recent? Did he like her for her? Or did he just think her pelt was pretty.
Looking back up to him, tail swaying, she said softly. "Dogtail, do you have a crush on me?"
Dogtail stopped in his tracks, one back foot raised and his eyes looking like they where ready to pop out of his head. "I... I.... I..." He stuttered, his mouth opening and closing for a lack of words to respond.
The black and golden warrior stepped beside him, looking up at him with a quizzical look on her face. She smiled and stuck her tongue out teasingly. "Oh come on now. You can tell me. No need to act like I asked you the difference between black and white." She smiled before rubbing up against him sweetly, then licked her head and licked his cheek. The large tom cat shivered from that before looking down at her with a goofy smile.
Glowingroot giggled happily and pressed her nose to his before turning and continuing on their border patrol, sniffing along the border and marking every now and again to make sure it was well marked. It scented like Stormclan had become lax with their border markings, so it was a good thing she talked Dogtail into walking out here with her to mark them.
She continued to mark the border, rubbing her face against stones and tree's and bushes to get her scent everywhere, purring a little as she did so. It was nice to rub her face on things. Then, an idea struck. Looking back at Dogtail, she noticed him marking a tree, but then she trotted up to him and started to rub her face against him. On his sides, on his chest and then on his face. She could tell this was embarrassing him, but she found it funny how he flustered over it. Chuckling, she flicked her tail before making her way back towards camp. They had done well enough on the border and it was time to head home.
Looking over her shoulder, she noticed Dogtail stiff as a tree, and she knew why. Smiling, she sat down, waiting for him to get a hold of himself. It wouldn't take to long for him to slowly turn and follow, the tall tom walking on shaking legs. Glowingroot smiled and walked beside him, heading back to camp, her tail high in the air and a sense of pride coming from her. Not only did he smell like her now, but she had his scent on her as well and that thought only made her happier!
