If you've ever wondered why I like animals (and drawing so much), it's probably genetic. And here's where it comes from . . .
This is my dad's dad back in the late 40's. I don't know the cat's name, but the dog is Ginger, who Grandaddy loves to tell stories about (she ate corn on the cob just like a person!). At one point Ginger had a litter of puppies with a (very determined, or very flexible) dalmation, Pinky, and when they started to run wild my grandmother - who didn't like animals nearly as much as grandaddy - would stomp around the house chasing them with a broom.

I love this picture so so much...
Come to think of it, this is rather familiar...I trace the art thing back to my grandfather as well. My family otherwise is not very artistically inclined so I've always reckoned that's where I get it. We've got a number of his paintings hung around our house. Half of which are portraits of some of his dogs. He must have had at least 20 dogs throughout the course of his life... The unfortunate thing is he died when I was only three years old so I never really got to know him. I only have one memory of him and am tremendously glad I have it, but I also really wish I had more.

He was doing pretty good, I think - owned his house flat-out, had money from soldiering in WW2, he was an accountant (although he look very farmer in this picture!) and my grandmother worked also. I think it's just that they lived in what was back then way out in the boonies and, like myself, he dresses very casual LOL
