Clickety-clack reviews: take along work and play roundhouse
*sigh* I can't think of anything cheesy to say here, let's just get to it.
My history: I got my first roundhouse in 2009 (yes take along was rebranded into take n play that year, but take along stuff was still available) at toys r us. This version was made completely with the new style tracks in mind. I don't know where that version went, but a few years later I got a second one, this version had the old style track connectors, but it was heavily sun-bleaches, and one of the doors eventually came off, and I had to use part of a paper clip as a quick-fix. I eventually sold that thing and got my current roundhouse (the one above) along with a knapford station, the hose car, and a bunch of tracks. I used most of the curves included to make this set. The version above has the old-style track above, but with adapters for the new-style track. I've had this one ever since.
Pros:
1: this set has all the starter essentials you need.
2: even though it's a small loop, there's many ways to expand if you get more sets and track.
Cons:
1: the spot where the "water tower" is could have easily been used to accommodate another berth.
2: the turntable is tight, making it relatively hard to turn.
3: even though I tried, I can't fit all of the track included into storage compartment on top.
Final score: 7/10 good set, but there's room for improvement.
Stay tuned for more clickety-clack reviews to come!
