Following on the idea of Folklore, from my previous piece of 'Kitsune' ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2662228/ ), I decided to create 'Deer Woman' after my trip to Canada, following the theme of Native American culture.
I spent a few nights researching into the folklore and myths, finally coming across the interesting tale of 'Deer Woman'....
"The Deer Woman is said to sometimes be seen as a beautiful woman just off the trail or behind a bush, calling to men to come over. Men who are lured into her presence often notice too late that she is not a natural woman and are then stomped to death."
As with my 'Kitsune' piece, I thought adding some of the native structures of a totem pole and native animals, of the raven, and native dress (Obviously schmexed up a bit more ;) ), would suite this piece.
I chose a mule deer, as they are native to Canada. The totem pole, from top-to-bottom has an eagle, crow, wolf and bear.
Created in watercolour, acrylic and pencil crayons.
