30min doodle of Otoh, still tweaking his design here and there, but with every update, I feel like I am getting closer to my vision of the character both design and characterization wise.
He typically carries himself as stoic, and a bit intimidating fellow, but it's largely a façade to mask his true personality as being a kind, introverted individual and a bit meek (and a bit of a doormat -- he has a hard time declining requests). He mainly takes on the façade because he got tired of crying one day as a child over losing important people in his life (his parents to war and a childhood friend to a terminal illness shortly after).
As a child, he asked Sekhur how was he also so strong, even when he had his life sruggles, Sekhur's response essentially boils down to 'Don't show weakness to anything, not even life'. But Otoh misinterpreted Sekhur's advice as to don't feel like you want to cry or anything that would deem you as weak (Sekhur meant DO accept suffering as a inevitbly of life, and DO embrace your emotional reactions to it, but ultimately DON'T let it break you), but Sekhur back then didn't know how to get his point accross, and he also wasn't sure of how to best raise Otoh because he was only recently 'promoted' to full-time parent and doesn't really know whether it is right for him to push his life veiws onto him when Otoh vividly remembers his actual father and his own teachings.
He is easily annoyed, but usually lets it go right away, and is surprisingly very difficult to actually anger. He most certainly will invoke the 'Beware the Nice Ones' trope if you do manage to piss him off though (at the end of the day -- he's still an 8' 4" 800lb+ wad of muscle, fangs, and claws; he is designed after a Bengal tiger, tied with the Siberian as the largest of tiger breeds and big cats in general). He feels acting himself would hardly befit someone of his size and build, especially given his orcish upbringing.
He's actually a cinnamon roll when he's not wearing his stoic mask, especially when interacting with friends and family. He can't resist a good meal, and is a bit of a dork.
Anyway, that's enough bio for Otoh for now.

Thanks, I really want to explore the bond between Otoh and Azul, and this is a good way to start showing it.
Also, were you thinking of charcoal? Because that's a very common tool for traditional mediums, especially since they're the easiest non-ink tool for getting deep black lines. They also tended to be sold as long thick sticks or as a thicker pencil.
